Losing is annoying. I went to the Go Center ratings tournament and entered as a 4k on Sunday.

I had to give 4 handicap in the first game and was losing by 5 or so before making a big endgame error and lost by more.

I took 7 handicap the second game and was winning when I once again made a late game error.

The third game I was tired and frustrated and once again giving 4 stones. Just a total loss where I tried to kill a couple groups and totally failed.

Finished watching first season of Code Geas and watched another episode of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and then continued reading the second Suzumiya book last night.

    Argh.

Just checking my mail after vacation and I managed to fail to show up for jury duty today.

    Back in the US.

I managed to get from a 9:15 landing to 10:30 at work after returning home first as well.

In reference to news about stabbing in Akihabara, I have not been there yet.

That was pretty surprising to see on the news here.

I just have to get through today, and I head to Japan tomorrow.

I can't wait for the vacation.

One way to make absolutely sure it rains is to take the motorcycle out for a ride. Nice and sunny for once and I get stuck riding back from lunch with showers.

I have joined the 21st century and now have a fancy 52" LCD HD TV sitting in my living room. The normal broadcast stuff looks awful but downloaded anime looks absolutely beautiful. DirecTV should be here Saturday to get me my HD DVR, and then I'll be set for Stanley Cup.

Unfortunately it looks like the Flyers will not move on.

I'm heading off to Orange County tomorrow for Gordian reunion, visit the parents and friends, and of course stop by Book Off. Can't wait for Philly cheesesteak tomorrow night.

Also looks like the NHL eastern finals should be a battle of Pennsylvania. Penguins are up 3-1 and Flyers are up 3-1. I'm rooting for the Flyers, but I should be happy with either team in the Stanley Cup. Right now it doesn't look like either can beat Detroit though.

Next trip is June 4th-11th to Japan.

I haven't updated in a while. That's not very new.

My father came up to Seattle for the weekend. On Saturday, we watched the Flyers game and headed down to the Cherry Blossom festival at the Seattle Center. I couldn't spend much time doing what I'd normally do there since I didn't want to bore him too much, but it was still fun. We saw some Shinkageryu kenpo and a lot of displays. There was a Go tournament going on that I had to miss, but I said hi to some friends there.

On Sunday we headed over to the Museum of Flight. There is a large area on space exploration that wasn't there before, and it was interesting. There is also a mockup of SpaceShipOne that is pretty cool and a little about space tourism. There was nothing about Blue Origin though. A little later we headed over to Dan's place for Passover seder and that was the weekend.

Last night Flyers won their first playoff series since 2004. I'm still hoping against hope that a Philly team can finally win a championship. It's been 25 years since the last time Philadelphia had a sports championship to celebrate.

I went to the Go Center ratings tournament yesterday. My rank moved up from 8k to 7k during the previous month when I went 2-0. I bought a new digital clock that is better than what the club has on hand to handle the overtime periods. It turned out that wasn't needed. I managed to win both games convincingly with resigns before getting to overtime. Both opponents thought I might be sandbagging while I was just happy to get some non-handicap games. Now the question is what do I enter in as next time. I'll miss the next two tournaments, the Cherry Blossom and the next ratings tournament due to a trip by my father here for a weekend and that I will be in California next month for a weekend. I think I'll just enter as whatever I can get my kgs rank up to by then.

It was a good weekend. I went to Adam's place on Friday for games. We played a weird camel board game and an interesting space based card game that was similar to San Juan. Afterwards had some great dinner and played some hands of Mu.

On Sunday, I went over to the Go Center to my first AGA Ratings Tournament in a while. My first game was giving nine stones to a 20 kyu. I really hate playing those games and is one reason I don't go to more of these tournaments. I was able to bully the guy enough and win big even while making a couple huge mistakes. At one point I realized I made a misread and started staring at a different part of the board. Luckily he didn't catch it so I was able to fix my error. It turned out to be a win by about 40 or so. My second game was much better since it was just a no-komi game where I had white. My opponent was closer in skill, but he started two invasions early in the game where I was able to chase around his groups all over the board and force a resign. I decided not to play in the third round but played a quick teaching game with a different 20k and then left to get dinner. It will be interesting to see how the AGA ranks will end up working out when the results are in.

    Woo!

At least I learned I will never do that again.

Yay, I have flexor tendinitis in my left wrist.

It's nothing serious and nothing I can really do for it. Just stretch it, wrap it when I ride, and take some aleve. The real question will be if that can be enough to do a track day at some point in the future.

I just ordered a new motorcycle clutch lever that can be adjusted for my hand better. That might make the biggest difference.

Started reading Shakugan no Shana after finishing Ookami to Koushinryou last week. I made a giant amazon.jp order for more Ookami to Koushinryou, Seikai no Senzoku, a couple Go books, Shion no Ou, and random manga for Carl.

I had a three day weekend. For the most part it was good. Watched anime, had some good food, played FFX-2, and played a little Go.

On Monday I went for a motorcycle ride with a coworker to have lunch in Olympia. It seemed like a pretty good way to empty a really old tank of gas. However, I fount out my wrist pain from using the clutch has not gone away. So today I set up an appointment with a doctor to get it checked out.

It'll be interesting to see what happens. I've been putting this off for a bit too long.

    Japanese trip 4
I've been working too much again. It really sucks to not be doing anything besides work this week after two weeks of vacation. I'm also starting to forget most of what happened but might as well try to finish this

Ok, so basically figured it's time to take notes. I'm in a hotel in Ikebukuro with a PC but has no chair to keep people from abusing their one very slow pathetic computer for too long. Luckily I'm not verbose with entries.

I found an open wifi near Akabane McDonalds. I'm so glad I got this phone.
